Resilience in Real Estate

Resiliency Training for Real Estate Professionals
Whether the market is strong or weak, the one constant is that Real Estate Professionals deal with stress related to their job. With that stress, many in this space become burned-out and fatigued. Some fall into the deep dark hole of depression, drug/alcohol abuse, PTSI, suicidal ideation and suicide. Indeed, studies have indicated that the suicide rate for members in the real estate profession is 1.38 higher than the average means for other professions. Real Estate Agents are expected to work all hours of the day and night answering phone calls, emails, and texts from clients. If there is no sale, there is no commission and competition is fierce. Reasons for burnout in this space include a lack of control over the process as there are many things that can derail a deal; conflict of values with the managing broker or client; an overwhelming workload and bevy of clients; working lone and isolation; and safety concerns.
RMOTFL has offered numerous training options for clients in this space. We have conducted full three-day resiliency training with facilitators from the industry to one-hour presentations at conventions and conferences. For abbreviated presentations, we provide the specific tool that can be used to help counterbalance the reasons for burnout in this
space.
