A graduate of the FBINAA’s 186th session and the Eastern Kentucky Police Administration Graduate Program, Randy Richert is a retired Air Force Colonel who culminated his career as HQ Air Mobility Command’s Director of Security and was responsible for all security and law enforcement for over 1000 of the AF’s airlift, tanker, and VIP aircraft, as well as 175,000 military and civilian personnel at 125 locations worldwide. In other senior leadership positions, he served as the Provost Marshal for US Forces Japan, oversaw the AF’s Detainee Movement Operations and the Phoenix Raven, global, flyaway security program. He gained his Master Resiliency Trainer status while commanding the AF’s rapid deployment force, the 820th Base Defense Group, which was designated as the AF’s test unit for implementation of their “Comprehensive Airmen Fitness” (CAF) resiliency program, followed by the development of the Security Forces (USAF military police) “Defender’s Edge” resiliency program. As such, he led the “physical pillar” project team which collaborated with the Cooper Institute to build the Sergeant Rock Physical Training program (Sgt Rock PT). He also served as the Director of Curriculum for the Air Mobility Warfare Center’s 421st Combat Training Squadron and at HQ AF Special Operations Command. It was here that the AF’s resiliency training programs initially gained traction under the terms “operational resiliency” and “human performance optimization,” with the former now hosting the AF’s Master Resiliency training program. He has been an Adjunct Professor at two universities, earned an MS in Criminology from California State University, Sacramento, and an MA in Defense Studies from Canberra University, Australia. He earned his BA in History, Political Science and Criminal Justice from Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minnesota. Additionally, he graduated from the Royal Australian AF’s Command and Staff College and was a National Defense Fellow at the Canadian Centre for International Relations at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario where he also lectured at the Canadian Royal Military College. In 2019, he graduated from the Save-A-Warrior program (SAW cohort 77). In other first responder roles, he served as a New Jersey firefighter for over three years, was commissioned a City Marshal for Bossier City, LA and served as a Deputy Sheriff in St. Clair County, IL. He is originally from Wisconsin and lives with his family near St. Louis, MO where he is an active member in the Eastern Missouri FBINAA Chapter, serving on the national Officer Safety and Wellness Committee. He is a life member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, a weapons, tactics and combatives instructor, and he conducts leadership, resiliency and mentorship training for multiple organizations. Finally, he continues a long football coaching career at the international, professional, college, and high school level, and currently volunteers as an instructor and mentor for 34 inter-city youth/interns at R3 Development, a Christian, non-profit construction firm, restoring homes and rebuilding lives in East St. Louis.
