Philip S. Aronow

Philip Aronow serves as First Assistant Prosecutor and is charged with oversight for the various functions of the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, which is supported by 40 municipalities and the New Jersey State Police for primary law enforcement activities throughout the county. Prior to that time, he was an Assistant Attorney General and served as Bureau Chief of the Prosecutors Supervision & Training Bureau with the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice. FAP Aronow began his legal career with the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office as an Assistant Prosecutor with its Family and Trial Team Units. Phil graduated from Lafayette College, earning his undergraduate degree in Engineering, and then attended Widener University School of Law. Phil joined the Division as a Deputy Attorney General with the Organized Crime and Racketeering Bureau as part of the newly formed New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission Initiative, and eventually became the Chief of that Unit. Phil worked to design, develop, and implement the training materials for this initiative that led to improved skills and knowledge in the field of Document Fraud and Identity Theft, and he wasresponsible for statewide training as part of the Facial Scrub and Human Trafficking Initiatives. FAP Aronow served as a Police Training Commission Certified Instructor and has taught as an Instructor and Guest Lecturer for various law schools as well as for military and law enforcement personnel throughout the state. As a prosecutor, Phil handled many high-profile cases on behalf of the Division and was later assigned to the Gangs & Organized Crime Bureau. He served as Liaison to the New Jersey State Parole Board and still serves as Co-Counsel to the State Narcotics Commanders Association. He continues as a Faculty Member and Coordinator with the TOP GUN Training Program for the interdiction and prosecution of gangs, guns and drug cases. Phil was also the Coordinator and Project Director on behalf of the Attorney General’s Office for the series of Fugitive Safe Surrender Programs held across the state over a period of five years, which was nationally recognized by the United States Marshals Service with a combined total that exceeded 18,000 fugitives who surrendered and clearance of some 50,000 active warrants. Phil was Chief of the Training Bureau with oversight for law enforcement training throughout the state, including the Division of Criminal Justice Academy and the New Jersey Police Training Commission. He was then promoted to serve as Chief of the combined Prosecutors Supervision & Training Bureau, and had primary responsibility for the supervision, coordination, and training of the County Prosecutor’s Offices and law enforcement agencies throughout the state. Phil coordinated the statewide law enforcement implementation of Conducted Energy Devices (Tasers), Less Lethal Ammunition and Body Worn Cameras. He oversaw training and outreach as part of the Attorney General’s Initiatives for 21st Century Policing, Bias Crimes, Veterans Diversion, Use of Force and Officer Involved Shootings, Law Enforcement Interaction of Individuals with Special Needs (Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities) and the New Jersey Law Enforcement Resiliency Program. Most recently, FAP Aronow has spearheaded Juvenile Justice Alternative Initiatives for at-risk youth, including the Burlington County Partnership for Youth Success and implementation of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) based programs with public, private and military partners.
