Mathew Silverman

Board Member and Director of Blue Hearts for Heroes

Mathew Silverman began his federal law enforcement career in 2001 with the United States Capitol Police and currently serves as a Chief Deputy United States Marshal with the United States Marshals Service (USMS) in the District of Maryland. Mr. Silverman served as Operations Commander for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Taskforce. Mr. Silverman is the Community Outreach Liaison for the District and partners with the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation’s Badges for Baseball Program. This program brings law enforcement officers together with the community by mentoring underprivileged children. Based upon his work in the community, Mr. Silverman was issued the United States Attorney General Community Outreach Award in 2017. Mr. Silverman currently serves as National President for the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) and is the President of Chapter 45 in Maryland. He has held several elected positions with FLEOA including National Executive Vice President and Vice President of Chapter 45 in Maryland. Additionally, Mr. Silverman served as the Agency President for the USMS and was appointed by the FLEOA National Board to serve as the Executive Vice Chair of National Legislation. In 2009, Mr. Silverman was elected to the Annapolis, Maryland, City Council. Serving on public safety and public housing committees, Mr. Silverman managed the city’s $94M annual budget and provided direct oversight of police, fire, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Office of Emergency Management budget worth $16M. Mathew is a current member of the National Sheriffs Association (NSA), Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO), Women in Federal Law Enforcement (WIFLE), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association (HAPCOA), and the FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA). Mr. Silverman earned a Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts Degree in Human Resources Management with a focus on Police Graduate Studies. Mr. Silverman is a Graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC), the New Jersey Chiefs of Police Command and Leadership Academy, Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, School of Police Staff & Command (SPSC), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy (FBINA).
